What is GenoMap?

GenoMap is a system for managing large sets of genotyping data. This system was developed within the Coordinated Laboratory for Computational Genomics (CLCG) at the University of Iowa.

Currently, GenoMap is used in collaboration with human genetics labs to manage the large amounts of genotyping data for linkage studies of several diseases.

GenoMap consists of a set of tools for loading, querying, and outputing data pertaining to individuals being genotyped, genetic markers, and genotype information. In addition, specific tools for semi-automated genotyping (GenoScape) and Mendelian inheritance assessment (Verification) are also part of the GenoMap system.

GenoMap consists of several interacting components:
Software Component Description
Subject Log Recording and searching for subject-specific information
Marker Log Recording and searching for marker-specific information
Trait Log Recording and searching for trait-specific information
Linkage Experiment Editor Creating, viewing, and updating linkage experiments
Genotyping Assistant Creating, viewing, and updating genotyping experiments
GenoScape Viewing and genotyping of genotyping gel images
Verification Interface to display all recorded genotypes together, and identify non-mendelian inheritance patterns
Linkage Analysis Interface to linkage analysis packages
